I haven't read a Thorne novel in a while, so this was like catching up with an old friend. I love crime fiction but the best thing about crime fiction which is a series is catching up with the same characters again and again. Tom Thorne is one of my favourite fictional detectives. I enjoyed this book but I worked out what was going to happen late on in the book but despite this it didn't ruin the book for me. Maybe it's because I've read so many crime fiction books that nothing shocks anymore and the 'twist' has to be massive for me to see it coming. But I enjoyed catching up with Tom Thorne enough to put the next book in the series to the top of my to read pile.
